Some auctioneers also have additional sellers charges. We do not charge for unsold lots or any lotting or entry fees...

We have only one commission rate for all entries. There is no two-tier system with higher rates for lower value entries or specialist auctions... 

When we pack & collect ourselves during a valuation visit it is free of charge.  Very large consignments or long distance collections may be subject to some charges. No storage charges, you do not pay for storage...

Low cost photograpy charges. It is normal  for auctioneers to charge for catalogue photography but our charge is per lot, not photograph, so covers multiple views or other uses. We charge 2 per lot for up to 25 entriesl & 1 per lot for the next 50 entries per vendor, per auction. Above 75 lots all photography is free...

Our insurance charge is only 1%. All auctioneers charge for insurance of your entries. Our fee is fair, low & charged on sold lots only. It covers entries during storage, transportation & the auction...

We operate from secure, gated premises with secure safe & strongroom facilities...

Parking for visitors is available at the rear of our office & saleroom in the Trinity House yard...

We offer a shipping service for buyers. Unlike many auctioneers, we operate our own in-house shipping service for buyers. It helps generate bids on your entries when buyers know they can easily get their purchase shipped...

Our catalogues are fully illustrated & can be viewed online by potential bidders, nationally & worldwide. We illustrate all lots in both our online & printed catalogues as we believe illustraions generate interest & bids. Not all auctioneers offer fully illustrated  catalogues...

We keep a large, regularly updated database of regular buying clients who are always informed of all forthcoming auctions & auction news by email...

We attach great importance to our website & ensure it is regularly updated & informative with news & previews for buyers to the benifit of sellers...

 

15% buyers premium...
My buyer's premium is 15% of the hammer price plus VAT at 20% a total payable of 18%. Online buyers pay the-saleroom.com commision charge of 3% plus VAT for their service. Their charge will be added to your invoice at cost.

Before bidding online...
Always obtain a condition report & ensure you have all the information you require. Detailed reports can be requested by telephone or email & further images can be supplied. Always ensure you are satisfied with any condition report & the catalogue description before bidding. All information offered is for guidance only. Measurements & weights in catalogues & condition reports are approximate & images must not be relied on for estimating size. colour or condition. All items are purchased under our Conditions of Sale & Terms of Business for Buyers shown with our online & printed catalogues. E&OE.

Shipping services. We offer a in-house postal shipping service for items acceptable & suitable for Royal Mail & Parcelforce tracked services. We charge the postage fee at cost plus a charge for packing, handling & materials. We can recommend other specialist shippers to UK & overseas buyers for high value, very fragile, large, multiple or heavy purchases we cannot ship.

Buying live online. Live online bidding is available for all our auctions through www.the-saleroom.com

Fully illustrated catalogues are available from 10 days before the auction at: www.the.saleroom.com

Guaranteed commission bidding. A free service with my proven guarantee to buy as cheaply as possible subject to reserves or other bids. Telephone bidding available but subject to lot estimate, lines available & for overseas bidders, place of residence

Payment for purchases. Payment strictly within 5 days of the auction by cash, debit card or bank transfer. Credit card payments only accepted for purchases under 250.  Direct bank transfer may be required for high value purchases. Bank transfers from non-UK bank accounts will incure a 8 bank handling fee.
